Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

Guys if you really need to navigate through the net download PUFFIN. It's the only browser immune. So far no fixes.

I tried this and it worked for a bit, but then Safari stopped opening links again.

Go to Settings > General > Restrictions

Enable restrictions by entering your passcode

    Disable your restrictions passcodes

hold sleep/wake button and home button (hard reset)

then go to safari and it seems to work.

I believe this worked, but when I tried clicking a link in a text message, Safari went back to not being responsive to clicking on a link.  Sorry this did. Not work.

Van abbemuseme earlier wrote that if you enter this into the search bar after you click on safari exactly as it is here and save this google web page as your new favorite/bookmark it will work to a degree ie all links work but wont  fix this annoying bug . Just remember that you will need to click this for each search as it wont open up a separate page for you to revert back too like before. http://google.com/webhp?nord=1

Yes, you're right! Same issue with 9.2.1 on 5S.

    From Safari, from mail...

Same thing here with my iPadAir2 it worked some days without problem and started yesterday with the issue not opening clicked links. Reboot, shutting off JavaScript nothing works.

Incredible crap. Unbelievable that Apple is throwing out this crappy SW. Till now i had never the feeling to wait for other users experience before i update to a new OS. The trust in the reliability of the SW quality checks was one of the major reasons why i am using Apple devices since the first iPhone. If this quality is not guaranteed any more there is no reason why not changing to a much cheaper Android.

Trusting Apple...I updated all my apple device (7 iphone 6s/6s+ and 2 ipads) to get handicapped. Hope Apple responds to this issue ASAP.

This is really frustrating. I guess Tim cook does not care about quality and customer satisfaction as much as Steve Jobs.

Hy all, I got this answer from Apple right now:

"We know how important it is to have your links working. We’ve heard reports of the issue and it’s currently under review. In the meantime, we have two workaround options. Restarting the phone may allow links to work, but only temporarily. You can also go into Settings > Safari > Advanced and turn off "Javascript.” That should allow links to work, but some websites may not function properly without Javascript."

iPhone 6S Plus locked up on safari and any other browser. Went to Settings/Safari/Search Engine and changed from Google to Yahoo. Problem resolved.

SAme problem here, have an iPhone 6S Plus with iOS 9.3. Links do not work, if I press a link in safari it freezes and after a while it crashes. In mail links also do not work and mail crashes. I tried chrome, links also behave strange, they do open but in a new tap which does not show up!

    HI,

exactly the same problem here (iPhone 6s Plus 64Gb).

Reset and backup / restore did not work.

Seems Chrome and Firefox are working.
