Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

Agree re Firefox - so far, so good. Have to say it's very frustrating though when you are travelling and everything is stored digitally on the iPhone, as is my case. However, to keep it all in perspective, at least the phone still makes calls and I can still text - how easy it is to forget that if we go back a few decades, even those features weren't a mobile option .

I Am still thinking it is chipset related. My wife's 6plus and my 6 are working fine, as are our MacBook air's. It is only my iPad mini 3 that is not working properly. It is known that Apple used different manufactures chipsets in the same product.

Same issue here on Iphone 6. Disabling Javascript gives some limited functionality in Safari.

Hurry up with a fix Apple this renders Iphone's useless in areas of core functionaility.

I've had this issue on my iPad Air 2 for a few days now and was a bit smug, it hadn't affected my iPhone 6splus or my iPad pro.

Just got mail on phone with a juicy deal in it ( legit website ) click the link and boom - no work.

Its like a creeping death - my iPad had it, now my phone is afflicted. I guess the pro is next :-(

Frankly gobsmacked that Apple haven't acknowledged there is a problem when there clearly is and seems to be spreading.

Is it iCloud related ? I'm waiting to see if my daughters 6s gets hit.

I have read that links in notes don't work when you affected. I use the phone no type links in notes and fortunately that still works or I'd be screaming the place down as my work would be seriously impaired.

I'm having the same issue in ios 9.x on my 6s.  It started when I first got the phone a few weeks ago. Can't use links in Mail. Messages, Safari, but can long-hold in Chrome and "open in another tab".  After talking to apple, I rest/erased the phone and tried a clean install--the links worked then, but when I restored my backup, they stopped again.  I hope Apple can get this fixed ASAP so I don't have to wipe it and then reinstall/configure the hundreds of apps I have.

Just come off a chat with apple support, after being talked through the java script  and clear web site date and hard reboot. Was told to try firefox and hold down links to open in new tab that does work.. This doesn't fix the mail or notes and any other issues i've yet to find. The person did acknowledge that they are aware of the issue and that engineering are working on a fix "We have had several reports of this issue coming in. I was told this morning that the engineering team is working on a fix to get this resolved for cx.".  When pressed for an ETA I was told "I am told it is expected by the end of this week how ever that is an estimated time frame."
