Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3

Same issue on an iPad Pro 12.9" after update to 9.3, but no issues on my iPhone 6! Links just freeze, not matter if pressed short or long; disabling javascript or changing other safari settings do not make a difference. Please fix this!

I have the exact same problem on my iPhone 6S. I have never had any issues before today - but I had NOT upgraded to 9.3 when it started.

How can Apple then be sure that this is a 9.3 problem, I wonder?

I have an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 6s Plus.

I have updated both to iOS 9.3 and the 6s seems ok, but the 6s Plus has the same issue described by all, it's strange that this update affects some devices and not all of them. A downgrade can be a solution until they fix this or nah?

Also I'm having an issue with files received through whatsapp, I can't download it and appears a message saying that I have to turn off wifi or VPN, weird...

    Anybody has experienced this problem?

    Regards!

I Have the exact same problem and it is so frustrating. I have a 6plus and it only started today. I thought upgrading to 9.3 would help and it didn't so I dont think that it is a problem isolated to 9.3 at all. I am not vey tech savvy but seems like some sort of bug to me. I really hope they sort it very soon.

I couldn't open new web pages in safari on iPad mini 4 after the update, and couldn't click on links in email on iPhone 6 after the update. I ended up downloading the old software 9.2.1 for both the phone and the iPad and the restored them to this software and now both are back working as normal in 9.2.1

This worked. I have an iPhone 6 with the exact same problem so it is not specific to the 6S nor is it specific to safari. I have both Chrome and Firefox on my phone and can't open links in any of the browsers. Disabling javascript has fixed it for now but I don't like how pages are displayed. Hopefully Apple will release a fix very soon.

My iPad Air 2 128GB displays exactly the same problems.

One example is searching on google. Tapping on some links has no effect at all (not even indicating a tap). Tapping on other links sometimes work, sometimes Safari blocks completely, and becomes totally unresponsive to any input. Restart does not solve the problem.

I haven't tested my iPhone 6 128GB (yet), but at least one iPad Air 2 128GB user has the problem.

I'm beginning to get fed up with Apple. Now iOS is beginning to become just as bug-ridden, as El-C®apitan!

    Regards

Same issue. It is weird because I set my phone up as new and it worked fine but as soon as I downloaded my iCloud backup the issue remains.  Javascript is a workaround for now to use safari but mail and messages are useless in regards to hyperlinks.

Same here on my 6S. Worked for several hours with Apple Support on chat to clear Safari cache, cleared website data, disable JavaScript and even restored my phone twice; all to no avail. The issue persists. Support case has been escalated to engineering team and is still pending a resolution. Could take up to 72 hours from now to get a response.

They should've sent an email notification to all ip6s and 6s+ regarding this problem so people doesn't waste time on troubleshooting and just wait for the solution from Apple. I'm lucky to be a search addict that search every problem before trying to solve it by myself.

There must be lots of frustrated people who own ip6s/6s+ right now and don't know what to do.

    Good job Apple PR.

I have the same issue as those posted here. I can't get Chrome to open in a new tab but Safari seems to work with Java Script turned off. No hyperlinks work in mail either..iPhone 6S.....

Same problem here: iphone 6s plus (iOS 9.3), Safari just started crashing whenever I try to open a link. This is really frustrating!

    Apple, get your **** together.
