Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

Agreed Landorhope.  One of my earlier posts on this thread mentioned my understanding that the best Apple writers went to Samsung or other players in the market.

I have the same problem. I have tried turn off JavaScript which helps but it leaves some web pages not displaying properly. I've found a solution using the Google Ap which allows searches and search links to work ok; when touching a hyperlink it gives the option to 'open' which works okay. I have full search facility restored this way but is not as convenient as using the safari header bar.

In my case it is my iPad Air 2 that won't open links in Safari, and the email freezes when I click on a link.  Phone seems to be okay - 6 running 9.3.  Turned off Javascript and now can use Firefox somewhat but not email links.

Same here.  Issue started before I updated to 9.3.  I updated to see if it would fix it.  It did not.  I called Apple, was told to disable Java, which worked on the safari links.  However my mail is still broken.  I have tried calling 4 times and been disconnected TWICE while talking to someone.  SO EFFING P*SSED.

Raffa, I wonder if this provide some clues. I try to follow what you wrote but one very strange thing - Booking.com app never shows up on my app list on iTunes. All my other deleted apps that I did not physically removed from iTunes were still there, except Booking.com. I even reinstall from the phone and did a sync with iTunes and it still didn't show up on the app list. The more bizarre thing is that the icon of Booking.com shows up on the picture of the phone screen where the app was installed but the app itself is missing from the list on the left where you can install or remove. I can click on the icon on the picture to remove the app from the phone but cannot find it on the list to reinstall it. This is very strange.

Same exact issue here, iPad Air 2 works fine, iPhone 6 Plus is basically as good to me as a flip phone. Email and safari link fail = super frustrated.

I followed your suggested procedure to the letter on my iPhone 6s running 9.3 and nothing changed.

Clicking on a link within Mail or Safari still freezes the app.

I have the same issue, but mine started 2 days before I updated to iOS 9.3, so I don't think it's an iOS update issue. I have changed my search engine to anything but Google and it seems to fix the issue in Safari but not in my mail app. I have a 6 Plus 128gb

I followed this too, and it fixed Safari for me. But trouble in Mail still the same.

Frustrating.  Same problem started Saturday out of the blue.  9.3 copied down to my 5s, but I had not loaded it yet.  After reading about this issue I actually deleted the update. That did not solve the problem, however my phone just receiving it seems to have caused it.  It downloaded again today - and it cannot run at this point as apple has disabled it.  They need to fix this soon!  I can workaround the browser issue - used chrome for most things anyway.  No links from email is troublesome.

Supposed to upgrade to a 6s in a couple of weeks.  Not hurrying now.  Android??

As this problem is now on CNN.com, I'd expect we see a fix very soon.
