Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I'm very disappointed about and the level of APPLE's service very bad to say the least. This bug is know for a week now (and it appeared with version 8 for the first time). Apple has an armada of highly waged developers but nonetheless they deliver unfinished badly tested software - like unripe bananas

This behavior of a reputated company like APPLE wants to be is very irresponsible towards their customers.

So how and when there will be an update fixing this? Any clues?

This solution works however, you need to clear the history and data as a final step. Worked for me :-)

    Thanks!!!!

I tried all the suggested work-arounds, no luck. However, I am finding that opening all my gmails in the gmail app works, then I follow links automatically to Google, which works.  I really think there is a big conflict between Gmail and the native Apple mail app--when I went out of the country native mail app would not get any Gmail, so had to install the Gmail app to get email. Still happens, especially since the update, where, when I am out of wifi iPhone 6s plus will not send or receive Gmail--have to use their app.  Found this article from someone else with the problem, and might try this elaborate work-around:

Seems prevailing opinions are that it is not only Booking.com app, but all apps that use universal links, which overload Safari. Oddly, I restored a very old iPad to factory condition, then installed the 9.3 update without accepting the iCloud sign-in. It works fine, and no issues. Supposedly, this is the only update that requires the iCloud sign-in? I actually don't remember, but know I did have to do it for the update on my iPhone 6s plus last week. All was working until yesterday.

Thank you!  I always wonder why APPLE doesn't take to social media to explain so we don't all have to wonder what the heck is going on.

I'm having the same issue iOS 9.2.1 ( since 24 March) with an iPhone 6 128GB, no clickable links in safari, mail or WhatsApp. Update to 9.3 was not solution for me. Please apple, bug this asap.

I had this problem (about safari google links that I can't open) on the 25th or 26th of march BEFORE updating to ios 9.3. Then I did the update (thinking it would solve it). It didn't changed anything. Also : I can't click on links from "news".

In Chrome (which I use now) : I can open in a new tab

One more here. Screwing up like this is amazing. Apple, come on, it's a $750 phone, remember?

Hello- I found this link- the instructions seem more complicated then a simple reset- and I obviously have no guarantee that it will work! Hopefully it helps

Apple advised me to disable javascript, which may cause some sites to look different.  However, it worked for me, and I changed from Bing to Google (not sure if that had an effect or not.

I tried that kinda.  I decided I didn't want Booking.com for now, so I tried this without reinstalling booking.com and it did not work.  However, I disabled javascript and changed the search engine from Bing to Google (not sure that had any effect on this) but now it seems to work.
