Mar 28, 2016 9:54 PM in response to pippelby Alex-Turner,First, open System Preferences -> Displays, and make sure that the option "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" is ticked. If it is ticked, untick and tick it. Note that you can also try choosing your Apple TV there next to "AirPlay Mirroring" to check that it shows up correctly.

But this is not the problem.
If the Apple TV is in standby-mode or off, the airplay icon disapears and comes back all the time.
Think is a always searching for the AppleTV. AppleTV on and the problem is gone.
Unticking "Show airplay icon" in System Preferences is no help, still the same problem.
And if the AppleTV is off, i can't watch with my eyetv controller TV on the Mac, because the picture and sound is stuttering all the time.
Just tapping the AppleTV on, the problem is gone on my Mac.
Very strange.
