Then the phone is useless to you. trash it and buy a new one. There is no way to bypass activation lock.

Mar 25, 2016 7:08 AM in response to Cordale from fort smithby Dnlyong,Please refer to this article Apple released 3 hours ago:
If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support
Try all of the known Apple IDs in your household. Try using the Apple ID that was associated with your iPhone before the update.
Apple also has released a new build to fix some activation issues, so you can try updating it again in iTunes. (Make sure you have backed up your data, and do not restore)
I will not be responsible for any data loss. Please refer to the article above or Contact Apple Support.

That article is not related to Activation Lock, which is the issue at hand in this discussion.

Mar 25, 2016 8:38 AM in response to Templeton Peckby Dnlyong,My apologies, I have misread the discussion.
I did not notice that he updated to iOS 9.2.
However, updating to iOS 9.3 may fix the problem, as Apple as fixed this issue, that Activation Lock appears after an update on a working iPhone.

Mar 25, 2016 8:53 AM in response to Cordale from fort smithby FelipeV,Have the original owner contact Apple Account security. They might be able to help:
Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support
Once they have access to the account, they will need to delete your phone from Find my iPhone as outlined elsewhere in this thread.

Photos for MacApple has pulled the iOS 9.3 update for older devices (iPad Airs and previous, iPhone 5s and previous) due to problems with Activation. See these articles for details and possible workarounds. The second article (first paragraph) explains the Activation Lock issue with older devices. Activation of 9.3 on some older devices was requesting the original ID/PW first used on the device, not the current one. A new build for the iPad 2 is now available that does not require the Activation step. A fix for the other devices is not yet available.
