Q: cant remember password to old appleid, when old id is entered, says no id exists but doesnt recog new id

After updating my iPad with the latest update on 3/22/16, I am locked our of my iPad.  I am original owner.  We moved after purchase and changed internet providers. changing my apple-id to the new email.  It wont recognize my new apple-id and when I enter my old email address/apple-id, it says there is no such apple id.  I have no idea what my old password was and cannot retrieve it because the old id no longer exists.  When I enter my new id, it only wants the old one.   My new id is current and has a good password, but wont recognize it.  my iPhone is even older and I am afraid to update it or I will lose that too.

Now terrorists can get away with increased security but rightful owners cannot update their devices. I'm so upset

The could  be the activation bug.

If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

See if you can find your old apple id or see if your new apple id is connected to you ipad.   Contact whoever you bought the ipad from and see if you can get a copy from them.  Credit card companies have been helpful to me at least.

I sympathies with you.  I restored my iPhone today.  Asked for my apple id at every turn.  Ask for my security answers which I could not find. Fortunately, I was able to change my answers.

Now you know to use a google id. Oh, I have my recover id set to verizon.  I best change it.

You can have one, two, or three apple ids per device.  Perhaps there was a problem with deactivating the first one.

Keep you ipad around.  Follow the news.  Looks like someone has figured out a way of hacking ios 9.x.

I'm turning off more and more security.  It's not increasing my security but only my frustration level.
