Q: My Apple TV won't accept my ID or password and wont leave the home sharing/settings page

I recently moved and I am trying to set up my apple tv but it wont accept my id or password even though it is obviously correct. I have tried unplugging it, I have reset it I have rest my Wifi and nothing is working. This never happened before I moved. I can either try home sharing or go to my settings and nothing else.

When the ATV is disconnected from the internet, this is how it behaves.

Assuming you have a new internet connection at your new place, you need to confirm your wifi network is connected to the internet and then reconnect to your wifi in the settings menu.

If you are only seeing computers and settings then it isn't properly connected to the network.

Mmake sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)

    Try ethernet

Make sure router has port 123 open (refer to manual if unsure)

    Test on another network

I have this problem right now, too, and I didn't disconnect from the internet.  My AppleTV is up and running fine, but when I try to sign in to music it won't recognize my Apple ID or password.  I was signed in yesterday and it was fine.  I never logged off.  I'm having no issues with connectivity or my WiFi.

If you are having the same issue, and are only seeing computers and settings on the main menu, then it isn't properly connected. Follow the steps above. Otherwise it isn't the same issue and you need to create your own thread.

Same Issue. Somehow, the AppleTV lost the password, and prompted for the iCloud password. After i figured out how to get past the two-step verification process, (enter password followed by 6 digit number), iCloud accepted my password. But when I tried to re-enter the iTune password, no luck. Attempt after attempt, it said incorrect id or password. Yet, iCloud was fine, and accessing via my iMac & Safari is fine.

I tried to reset my AppleTV, following a suggestion on another thread, but now iCloud, iTunes and Home Sharing do not recognize my id or password.

As suggested above, you might try posting a new question for your specific problem.

Please identify the version of your ATV, see Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

Others have had trouble using 2-factor verification on ATV. There are several threads on this topic. Can you try turning it off temporarily?
