iPad Air not playing through bluetooth headphones

I have an iPad Air and Motorola S305 bluetooth headphones. I am currently running iOS 9.2.1. I can pair the headphones to the iPad easily but when it connects it only connects for phone calls. When I play music it does not come out of the headphones but from the speakers on the iPad. I have checked out the Motorola device and there is no way to change what type of connection it makes with the iPad. It can connect for calls only, music only or both. Considering the amount of other questions there have been concerning bluetooth music streaming through bluetooth devices I am leaning towards it being an issue with the iPad. Is there any solution for this?
