Phase Alignment For Multi-Mic'd drums in Samples

Using Logic 10.0.7

I'm looking to do something in Logic X that is very easy to accomplish in other DAW's.
I'm going to be recording multimic'd drums. Their will be at least two microphones on each individual drum.

Using Logic's Sample Delay plugin, I wish to delay channels so that they are better in phase.
For example, with two microphones on the rack tom, one aimed at the top head and one aimed at the resonant head. I will switch the polarity of the second microphone but I then also wish to line them up to the sample.
To do this, I need to know the difference in samples between the two channels.
How can I find out this information?
I do not want to "eye" it or simply delay it until it sounds right. I wish to know the exact difference in samples between the two tracks. I was thinking perhaps I could use the marquee tool to highlight the difference visually and it would give me a measurement in samples but I can not seem to make this work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm not after a formula, I've heard of plenty of engineers who I like time aligning close mics on a single drum to each other and also delaying close mics to overheads. It's just something I want to try but can't figure out how to do in Logic Pro X. I specified in my original post that I didn't want to be told to "just use my ears" or something. I'll use my ears once things are aligned to see if I like it or not. I know that in Pro Tools for instance I would be very easily able to get a measure of the difference in samples between two tracks by highlighting the area of the difference.
