2010 Mac Mini and AOC Q2577PWQ

Hi,

I have a 2010 Mac Mini connected to a AOC Q2577PWQ that it struggling to display the monitor's native 2560x1440 resolution. I have started from a completely fresh install of El Capitan and have connected the monitor using a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable from StarTech.

On install of El Capitan, the Mac utilised the native resolution, however, on booting up the screen goes from grey to green (with pink apple logo) and remains like this after logging in.

If I change the display settings to 1080p, the screens natural colour returns. However, I cannot then set it back to the native resolution. If I choose 'Best for Display', the screen briefly goes black but the resolution does not change. The other resolution options disappear and the coloured spinning wheel appears for a few seconds.

If I boot the computer in safe mode, I can set the resolution to 2560x1440 and it is fine. As soon as I reboot, it reverts to the green screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Illaass,

Many thanks for your response and apologies for the delay - I've not looked at rising the issue until today.

I have tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM/PRAM- no change 😟

Safe mode displays native resolution.

This is a brand new Install of El Capitan, so I presume there is nothing to fix and I don't need to reinstall? It didn't work right from first boot...

Thanks

It should support up to 2560x1600 using a Mini DisplayPort connection.

I would first try, installing the 10.11.4 Combo Update over the top of the App Store version.

see > Download OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Combo Update

Then if that does not help, I would

1. create a new User Account, login to that account and see if the problem occurs there as well.

2. try checking "Reduce transparency" in the Accessibility Display Preference.

3. try a different Mini DisplayPort to Display Port cable.
