Q: Contact List

My sister has an iPhone 6. She just did an update. Now each time I try to text her from my iPad, it comes up in RED and I cannot send to her. Her iPhone 6 contact list is grayed out too. I cannot communicate with her iPhone to iPhone, even though we BOTH have iPhones. Suggestions? We have both shut off our devices and turned back on. Didn't help. We've deleted text threads.
