Q: iMessage sending duplicate video message

So, the other day my girlfriend sent me a video message from the airport, and her wifi was spotty at the time, so it failed to deliver, but then after trying again she was able to successfully send it. Since then I've received the same video about 15 times, and on her phone it's not appearing, but it keeps popping up on my messages, and in the details tab I have about 15 copies of the same video. I'm just wondering if there is any way we can fix it. She's tried restarting her phone, and she tried deleting the message from her message history, and I'm still receiving it randomly.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I see you're receiving the same video message repeatedly. Be sure to restart your own device if you haven't already. I'd also recommend some additional steps from If you can't connect to a cellular network or cellular data, even though this article applies to a more general issue:

    • Restart your iPhone or iPad.
    • Check for a Carrier Settings Update.
    • Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

If the video was sent as an iMessage, you can also try these steps from If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (even though again the article addresses a more general symptom):

Sign out of iMessage and FaceTime, then sign back in:

    1. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    2. Go to Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    3. On your iPhone first, sign back in to iMessage and FaceTime.
    4. Sign back in to iMessage and FaceTime on your other devices.

You and your girlfriend can both try the steps that I've mentioned on your devices.

    Best Regards.
