Q: Upgraded to Mac OS X 10.7. Cannot print with Lexmark 2690

I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion. Now I am unable to print.

Mac is running 10.7.5

Error says There is a problem communicating with the printer.

I know that the latest driver from lexmark and apple is Driver 11.3 But I noticed 2 things, when I install the 11.3 driver I get this error, but When I use the older driver (before installing Lion, 11.1) the printer at least says printing page 1 but I does not actually print. I am sure I am having a software issue and not a hardware issue. I am able to print a test page in both cases from the printer utility. Lexmark wants to charge me $79 for technical support. Does any one know a fix?

Try resetting the printing system Reset the printing system on your Mac - Apple Support

I did this, it did not help. I also tried Repair Disk Permissions

i tried following those steps. The only step I was unable to do was rename my printer folder. It's like I don't have permission to rename that folder even though I am the only admin user.

Try a different USB cable and reset the printing system one more time.
