Q: El Capitan 10.11.4 Issues Freeze/Fans.

Hello to everyone, to start i apologize in advance for my english since it's not my first language.

I own a new MacBook Pro Retina 13" Early 2015.

Since the last 5 months i had the OSX El Capitan 11.10.3 that came out of the box with the computer. And it worked always perfectly.
In the latest 5 months the mac never gave me any kind of issues!!
I use mostly the computer for listen music, browsing, chatting or writing texts (really basic usage nothing heavy)

Unfortunately i have to say, a couple of days ago on the App Store i noticed a new Update of OSX the "11.10.4" version and i decided to upgrade.
Well after a couple of hours i upgraded to the newer version my mac started to have several issues.
First of all the Fans. Without any kind of reason after 1 or 2 hour after the upgrade (i was simply browsing the web with 2 pages open on safari in specific facebook and youtube)
The fans started to run really crazy and loud for 3/4 minutes... so loud that i thought that the computer was exploding and i closed all the application and waited for the fans to runs slow. To the touch the aluminum of the mac was not hot... Ambient temperature.
This problem happened only the first day i upgraded. But to be honest sometimes i'm experiencing fans that sometimes runs fast and loud without any reason.

Last but absolutely not least.... FREEZING!!! Strangely also this problem showed up the same day i upgraded my macbook pro to the 11.10.4 version and this happened to me about 5 times right now!! and it's becoming a nightmare!!
While using the computer the mac
just simply freeze the screen (mouse is stuck without the wheel is totally freeze) and after 4/5 seconds that the screen is stuck also the haptic vibration of the trackpad stops work. I tried to leave the mac like this for about 10 minute but nothing... only an hard reset can solve this problem..

Last time happened just an hour ago circa and this is why i'm here..

I already tried to boot the computer with CMD+D for Apple Diagnostic and check the hardware, but it's completely fine showing a message "No Issues Found" ADP000.

Looking at the console i saw few messages strange but as i'm not a technician i don't know what kind of problem is...

Anyone of you is experiencing this problems on their macs?

Have you looked at/set Spotlight preferences -- as I really don't use it - after I changed settings to folders only and put time machine and various folders including caches into private area - things are picking up.

The Spotlight indexing may have a database file size problem - where it causes memory leaks when it gets too big --- or its and issue because it can't keep up or spawns too many threads -- the only other issue I can think of in my case is that the drive is fragmented and OS Unix based stuff is doing some housekeeping on it.

On the top sites - thought I turned it off in Snow by editing them out - only at some point a "fix" came in that started adding them and refreshing them -- imagine my surprise when I found I had over 30 top sites - some of them rss feeds.

I have a question. It could be an external HDD that caused this problem?!
I have a presumed defective external HDD. I remember that once i insert the HDD in my macbook pro i saw something strange going on.

On the macbook desktop the file size i was moving on the HDD was correctly 1.5GB at the moment to transfer this file on the defective HDD strangely the file size showed 3.2GB.

This may have caused the problem?!

Do let us know if the problem goes away after a fresh OS install. I just had another freeze! Removing Cache file did not work! I think I am going to retire using Safari for good.

However today i will re-install the OSX. We'll see what happen and if in the next weeks i will have freeze again...

mostly youtube causes the problem but also other websites which offer video cause the freeze too.

****!!!!!! THIS IS AN UNBELIEVABLE NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!
Yesterday i deleted all my data!!!! And give a full reset to my mac with the OSX Internet Recovery (CMD+R)!!
And today the mac started to freeze also at startup with apple logo and loading white bar (you can see from the screenshot taken from a video i made!)
Tomorrow i will go to the apple store with my mac and the video on my hands and i will pretend a plausible and conclusive explanation about these issues!!!
I start to regret and i wish i had NEVER upgraded to this f****g El Capitan 10.11.4 version!!!!! 13020092_10207668429820263_221578864_n.jpg

In my personal case it's almost a week that the problem doesn't occur, but maybe it's only luck or in this period I haven't visited any website with content that can cause the Webkit problem.

Exactly!!! And this is the same issue i'm going through. For a couple of days my macbook didn't freeze. But after freezes..
This problem happen always randomly when it wants and doesn't follow an exact path...

For example i passed the last 3 days doing a "stress" test by opening different youtube videos etc... Trying to make the mac crash on purpose...
    But nothing.. I totally failed...
And today when i was using normally the browser the problem shows up!!
I'm surprised that apple it's quiet about this issues... Especially (like someone say) this is a problem that OSX bring with himself from years...

Of course I spoke too early... it just happened again.

Is it really a problem that happened to a good number of users even before 10.11.4?

For what I read online the freezing issue is a problem that appeared in particular with 10.11.4. I wish I have never updated...

From what I have learned. YouTube,NetFlick and some others are going away from using Flash player. If you have Flash Player installed ,but also have HTML5  enabled or set to automatic, you can get a conflict. Most of the You Tube video's don't need Flash Player to run.

In fact, thanks to the growing popularity of HTML5 in the latest years, I think that a great number of users experiencing the freezing issue don't have Flash Player installed, myself included.

I got in touch with someone at apple support they suggest to Reset the System Management Controller (although it has nothing to do with safari.) and get back to them as fast as possible. I have done it and there has been no freeze symptoms so far. I would like to get your confirmation on this fix too so that I do not make a fast judgment about the solution and get back to apple support asap.

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
