Bootable Installer Last Second Hang

I created a bootable installer of OS X 11.4 according to the support article HT201372 on a high speed USB flash drive.

Booted with the drive and started installation formatting the new target drive.

Installation launched as expected, but got stuck right at the end according to the displayed message that installation needed just one second to complete.

No matter how long I wait and no matter what target drive I use - HD, SSD, Flash Drive - I cannot get over that last second.

Any hints?
