Dreamweaver won't launch after Security Update 2016-002

So the day after the update is installed, when I go to open Dreamweaver (CS5), all that shows is the apple menu and 'Dreamweaver'...nothing else in the menu, blank screen below. I've tried the standbys...restart, reinstall. I tried this 'fix': https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/cant-launch-dreamweaver-cs5-mac.html . Tried installing Java 6 (direct from Apple). Repaired permissions. Nothing's working. My other CS5 programs are working fine (knocking on wood).

Macbook Pro Retina / Yosemite 10.10.5 / 16GB

And you have the latest Adobe update for Dreamweaver CS5, and installed the summer 2015 Apple Java update for Yosemite?

You know of course that Adobe probably has zero commitment to upgrading Dreamweaver for current releases of OS X. The last Dreamweaver CS5 update was in 2011, and the last CS5.5 update was in 2012. The last update to Dreamweaver CS6 was in Dec. 2012. You are attempting to make software that was released about OS X Lion timeframe work in four newer releases of OS X. Adobe has moved on.

Time to look for a Dreamweaver CS5 replacement. Preferably something that does not rely on Java.

three things to try at this point

1)

navigate to the dreamweaver app (not the dock icon or a shortcut) and launch while holding down SHIFT+OPTION+COMMAND+CTRL

you will be prompted to delete the preference file. If not you did not perform this action correctly.

2)

create a new user with admin rights

boot into that account

open DW

if the problem persists it's possible the update broke the app

if the problem is resolved there is a conflict somewhere with your account

or 3)

use the adobe cleaner app THEN reinstall

Yes to both. And yes I get it. I don't use it all that often, but just so happened to have used it the day prior to grab some files for an old job. I get that it's old and time is limited, but one wee security update shouldn't be shutting it down. Thanks for the advice.

Jimmy you're the man! I couldn't reset preferences via the shortcut, but went in and renamed the folders, etc, and voile! I'd thought of permissions, but not preferences. Thanks a bunch!

I just had this happen to me and I was able to get DW CS5 running again by deleting the personal configuration folder. (This after deleting prefs and caches and stopping just short of uninstalling the whole thing. ) https://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
