Tap Tempo External Midi Control for iOS Garage Band

Is there a way to map tap tempo to an external midi controller (say a foot pedal)? I'm having a lot of success using Live Loops in Garage Band for iOS with my band. However, we do sometimes drift when playing to the loops and it would be nice to tap tempo to get the loop to match the band.
