Q: Google links don't work after iOS 9.3

After update to iOS 9.3 on my iPhone 6 Plus I can no longer click on search links from Google anymore. Tried both in Safari and Chrome. Works well with Bing.com.

If I hold down on the link and choose to open in new tab it works.

restarted apps -> same result

Rebooted iPhone twice -> same result.

suggestions?

Email links and SSafari is not working for me, but can use google app to surf web.        Apple is going downhill fast in my opinion.

    Same problem here:

    6s, running 9.3, updated 3 days ago.

Links are not working in messages or mail. Simple touch does nothing and force touch freezes the app and occasionally crashes the phone.

Safari links are now working since I turned off Javascript, safari now looks very 90s however. Not ideal!

I tried restarting, clearing website data etc. Then spent 30 mins online with Apple support trying various workarounds, none of which worked either.

I use my phone for work and not being able to open any links is proving very annoying. Fortunately this has happened over the Easter weekend so it hasn't affected me as much as it could have.

I just can't believe this wasn't flagged at any of the (many) Beta stages?! Come on Apple, release a fix!

It wasn't found because the new booking.com apple-app-site-association file wasn't updated until sometime last week, when iOS 9.3 was released. It occurs on iOS 9.2.1 as well. The bug in iOS that allows this behavior is old, it's not part of iOS 9.3.

    Hi Rosyna,

Thank you for this, I don't suppose deleting the booking.com app would help then?

    Cheers!

Just been on Apple chat. The annoying thing is they start the conversation like they know nothing about it!

"Oh wow, I understand how inconvenient and concerning it is to experience so many problems after updating to iOS 9.3. So you are experiencing an issue with accessing links within Safari after the update. I always expect updates to go smoothly, and this is definitely unexpected behavior. You have definitely made a great choice by contacting Apple Support today, you are in the right place for help!"

When you point out he hundreds of complaints on web

I want to let you know that our engineering team has received similar reports of this link behavior within iOS 9.3 and they are investigating the issue. As a temporary workaround, we can try turning off JavaScript, then restart your iPhone.

Said it hadn't worked for me.

Usual apologies etc then says use this link to report.

So everyone please use it. Not that it has ever worked for me with other issues. maybe I'll go back to windows and android.

Sadly, no. Uninstalling it did fix it for me and one other, but it's not working for anyone else. The uninstall has to be successful before the swcd process starts crashing, and that's very hard to get timed correctly.

Thanks again, how annoying. I'll try the uninstall and go for a reset and see if anything happens, not holding my breath though...

It's just started happening to me on an iPad Pro that has been fine so far. I can link it to using google drive last night a lot which crashed constantly. I deleted and reinstalled drive and the links issue began then.

SO I posted last night that safari was causing me issues and i couldnt open links on Google search results on my iPhone 6s.

    UPDATE

links in mail do not work

    deleting bookings.com app doesn't work

turning off java script does work

using Bing.com seems to work ok

Went to Apple Store this afternoon and they were advised of issue this morning but only from looking Apple forum not through official channels. Was advised to wait for update 9.3.1!!!!

Previous to my last reply, I have been forced to return my ipad to iOS 9.2.1 and reset

iit's now working as before, tho' it's a reall pain having to read-load all my apps, sign in again on each one etc....

Still, it's  better than having a useless ipad and waiting for Apple

if anyone is interested in doing the same, here is the link.

IF you've decided to restore, you can go back to iOS 9.3. The file that created the issue was corrected and the bug exists on both iOS 9.2.1 and iOS 9.3. Since it was corrected server-side, going to iOS 9.3 won't cause it to appear again.

I Didn't recommend restore to fix it because it's a shotgun solution.
