Q: Airdrop / Bluetooth issues after iOS 9.3 & OS X 10.11.4 updates

I updated the operating systems of my mid 2012 non retina MacBook Pro and iPhone 6 this past week and it seems to have wreaked havoc with the bluetooth settings.  I can no longer AirDrop files between my phone and laptop (worked perfectly fine before the updates).  I have already unpaired (‘forget this device’), restarted and tried to reconnect the devices and even did a nvram reset but nothing seems to help.  Does anyone else have this issue?  Any idea how it can be remedied?

    Hello,

When I previously spoke with Apple care they said they will release os x 10.11.5 for correcting airdrop and handoff features but today I received the update. After updating still airdrop feature not working. I don't know what is wrong. Any one facing same problem? Can we go to apple store in person for a solution .....?? Any advise

    Thank you

    Hi Barry,

Thank you for the reply. I read the previous post and I have tried but nothing works for me. I think I have to pay a visit to Apple store and see what they suggest.

I'm still having the same problem.  Tried to disconnect the wifi network, and just leave wifi on; didn't do anything; albeit this did work some months ago.  Air drop works perfectly OK between my iPhone 5s and iPad 2Air.  Otherwise, forget to use it with the Mac.  The latest updates to iOS 9.3.3, and OSX to 10.11.6 hasn't changed anything.  It appears Apple has sold us a "pup" with this one.  I just can't work-out why such a reputable company lies in its advertising about this feature, and strings us along with inconclusive and incorrect answers.  If that reflects the corporate culture at Apple, it certainly should scare investors.  In Steve Jobs' time, such an annoyance would not have happened.

Consequently, means reading about the "new" features advertised for Apple's new operating systems needs to be taken with a grain of salt...we can't yet know which other features will be duds as well.

Maybe the beginning of the end...at least for some involved in dodgy product design.

I'm not a techno, but have been a loyal Apple customer for almost 8 years.  Yep, just one lone cog in the machine.  Apple will one day end-up the same way as its innovative and successful "Newton".

Hi, I have a MacBook (2015) with OSX 10.11.6 and an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.3.3. AirDrop between my iPhone and my Macbook is not working anymore. I tried all the common suggestions and I haven't made AirDrop work again between my two devices. The funny thing is that my Macbook can AirDrop fine with my wife's Macbook (same model - 2015), and my iPhone can AirDrop fine with my wife's iPhone 6 Plus, but between iOS and OSX AirDrop is not working. This looks like a software problem, either in OSX or iOS. Anyone else experiencing the same pattern?

Yep, I have the same problem, and have had it for some time.  I've tried all the posted suggestions, to no avail.  Works fine between iOS devices, but not when I try iOS to OSX and vice-versa.  I've given-up on this for now.
