Ibooks running very slow since 9.3 update

YES and I'm hair pulling frustrated! I am having the same issue along with importing from email books that won't open in iBooks. Sometimes iBooks closes or goes back to the library when I turn a page. Highlight, define and note are extremely difficult if at all. Sometimes the library comes up blank. The spinning gear is the devil.

I've tried closing it down, restarting, checking settings and nothing has worked.

Something is broken in iBooks iOS9.3

Why do iTunes always forget about ibook when they update 😠😕

Yep update was absolutely horrible. So much lag, books covers aren't coming up, force closes, books freezing or just not working. hey apple if you don't know how to do it correctly then just don't release it instead of screw up only reason I use an iPad is for reading for school.

I'm having the same problem and it's driving me crazy. I did a clean install and it was no help at all. I turned off Sync Bookmarks and Notes, Sync Collections, and Online Content and the problem still persist. I have a iPad Air 2.

Having the same problem here on iPad Air. Especially audio books take ages to open, often causing a crash of the app. Hope Apple is going to fix this soon!

Same problem here: white screen. But after a minute my audiobooks appear and it works. It´s embarrassing, Apple!

I ended up reinstalling iOS 9.2.1 and everything is back to working. I couldn't restore from backup though because my backup was of 9.3. Hours of work on getting everything re setup is ahead, but at least it's working.

All of the symptoms mentioned in every posting here I am having too. It's always been nerve wracking wondering whether to update iTunes when a new upgrade appears. For iBooks the last iTunes upgrade before 9.3 worked great, but before that I've had my whole iBooks library disappear twice from my iPad. One never knows -- it's basically a gamble -- and totally infuriating.

i will never upgrade iOS again until what is released is at least 6 months old. iBooks which the main reason i have an iPad is virtually useless, takes forever to load, covers load slowly, can't scroll with out losing the covers. A complete piece of crap. A nook from Barnes and Noble looks pretty good at this point. SO APPLE WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO??????

I stopped iCloud sync for iBooks, everything seems back to normal.

Despite my not using iCloud, I still have all the problems discussed here.

I have an older iPad mini and right now I want to throw it at the wall.

When I first updated, all my epubs vanished (not purchased on iBooks), after a near heart attack and some frantic Google searching they magically reappeard without me doing anything.

Now it's so slow it times out or crashes. I turned off iBook sync (even though I would like that feature) and it didn't help.

I also read Fanfiction on iBooks - as stories are updated I delete old versions and download the new updated ePub files. When I was trying to do so today iBooks seemed to be holding on the the old version even after deleting it and not opening the new version.

really hoping it's fixed soon.

iOS9.3.1 has been installed and seems to work better. I'll know more as I work with it.

I had the same problem right after the update, but now iBooks is back to normal. I went into the settings and turned off both sync options, cellular data, and online content, and now iBooks is working fine again. Not sure which one of those tweaks is ultimately responsible for the improvement, but I certainly feel less suicidal.

I'm still having the same issues. Very slow, stalling, touch screen not responding.
