AirPlay Won't Play Videos Well

I Have an iPod Touch 6th Generation & a Apple TV 4. After updating my iPod Touch to IOS 9.3 & My Apple TV 4 to tvOS 9.2, Airplay just won't play as before. When I try to Airplay from my iPod Touch to Apple TV, the Airplay gets to the Apple TV but it will not play. I try touching the PLAY/PAUSE button on the Siri Remote, but nothing happens & I even try by touching the Play button on the iPod touch but still nothing. The only way it could work is if I I restard the Airplay a few times more. But this only happens in safari and in some other apps, but not in YouTube or iTunes & afternoon updating the buffering has gotten slower & it buffers a lot more.

This annoying problem has resurfaced with tvOS 10.2. Fortunately, the old trick still works. Funny that it was introduced with tvOS on 3/24/16, corrected by tvOS 10 on 9/13/16, and restored by 10.2 on 3/27/17. If you experience this, please be sure to report it to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html. That's our only hope for a permanent fix.

I agree 100%. I'm airplaying from iPad air using chrome to Apple TV tvOS 9.2. The stream downloads fully as indicated by the progress bar. Can advance manually to view individual frames, but video will not play continuously. Airlplay from the utube app on iPad works fine, but other videos are hopeless! Does it really work after multiple retries?

So it still not working. I also notice that when I start playing a video the scrubbing slider on the player starts to go crazy, like it's trying to play but like something is stopping it. It goes like: 0:00 to 0:01 & 0:02 & then it comes back to 0:00. I can only get it to work if when I play the video & later go to control center & turn airplay OFF & then back ON, it's the only way I could get it to work.

my god we are in the same boat. I have exactly same issue. After upgrading ATV4 to 9.2, airplay is not working from iphone6s plus. My issue is same as Calushikid explained. I can only get it to work if when I play the video & later go to control center & turn airplay OFF & then back ON, it's the only way I could get it to work as Calushikid mentioned. But this also sometimes works and sometime does not.

I tried full power recycle by pulling out ATV power plug, still no success.

Well, what do you know. My prior success with power cycle was only temporary. The problem of airplay loading the video but not playing continues. Simple airplay off/on on the iPad doesn't help. What seems to work fairly reliably is to start the video as if it was going to work, let ATV begin downloading, then hit the menu button. This cancels airplay, and after a moment the video will start playing on the iPad. Now turn airplay back on and playback continues on ATV. Interestingly, when you do this, the video URL appears briefly in the upper right of the TV screen, which never happens normally. Sometimes when I do this, ATV continues playing a previous video, not necessarily the most recent. Closing and reloading the hosting web page seems to fix this. This workaround is a terrible hack, but it will do until Apple can fix the underlying hangup...
