Q: Salt Water Damaged iPhone 6

My iPhone 6 just felt at the beach few days ago (Wednesday).. After it felt, I spontaneously picking it up (only about 2-4 seconds iPhone submerged with salt water).. and I can see at the screen, it still on about 5 second.. I even can see 2 notification from stand by screen.. I tried to turn it off, but it take a times, and my iPhone already dead and turn to blue screen before I can turn it off.. after that, I cover it with cotton fabric for 2-3 hour until I can get rice at the beach.. I keep my iPhone with rice in tied plastic for 2 day.. After that, I tried to turn it on.. It's look normal for the beginning.. Apple logo's show up! And then the screen turn to red display, blue display with line, and it looks like degradation colour changing.. Event, I can’t see my home screen. I was afraid and try to turn it off soon by pressing home button and lock button at the same times about 15-40 seconds.. And now I already back to my home town.. I can see that rice already full fill my iPhone charging port and headphone port.. and I’m not really worried about that.. I just wish it will turn on and back to normal again.. Yesterday, I bought silica jell and mix it with rice.. I move my iPhone and put my iPhone with silica jell and rice at zip lock plastic. I event forget to remove my cellular card.. I’m afraid that open the zip lock will moisture my iPhone again.. So, I think to keep my cellular card with my iPhone.. And might to open and try to turn on my iPhone next week..

Anyone can help me to fix it? or any advice? what should I do?

And.. I have so much contact, chat history with my client.. and it's really, really important.. and I just realized it.. but.. I don't know how to say this..

I NEVER BACK UP my iPhone from the first time.. It's still something that I can do?

my iCould never back up my data.. and the iPhone is in turn off mode..

iPhone 6 not sure my iOS..

I Bought it at February 2015.. Its already 1 year past.. and out of warranty time..

You need to take it to your local Apple store for assessment.   It is very unlikely to be repairable.  You will have to purchase a replacement at the out of warranty price.   This price varies with each country.

No.   Best call and ask in the stores.   There are no formal Apple stores, only Premium re-sellers.   It is usually the case that re-sellers can set their own prices so if there is more than one in your area, try them all.   Being from Europe, I cannot be sure that 'Out of warranty' prices ( which are usually beneficial) exist for re-sellers in countries like Indonesia.

Salt water is extremely corrosive and damage is instantaneous, so there may have not been much you could have done from the beginning.

However, for next time, be aware that rice is a myth.  The last thing you want to do is allow the water to evaporate and deposit all that salt on the motherboard of the phone, and then run electricity through it.  The best thing to do is find a quality professional to open your phone while still wet, as soon as possible after liquid exposure, and properly clean the board, dry it, then use known good components (screen/battery) to see if the board can power on and allow data retrieval.

In general, it is always best to replace any phone that has had liquid damage--repairing a water damaged board can get expensive and quickly approach the same cost as an out of warranty replacement by Apple.

Disclaimer---it may be possible to void your warranty options with Apple by opening your phone.

I Know it's too late now but for those who are reading this I had a similar experience that I fixed as follows. my phone got soaked in salt water with a defective life proof case that let some water in. Phone still worked but I was getting random messages when the phone was not plugged in saying this cable would not work with this device? When I went to charge it the charge light was on but the battery was not charging. The phone eventually died and could not charge back up To turn on.   So I figured what happened was salt water got into the charging port and shorted out the connections, hence the earlier messages. After reading these forums I decided to take some advice to clean the salt water out with fresh water so 2 days later I submerged the bottom of the phone and poured water inside the port to flush out any salt water. Then I put the phone in a zip locked bag of rice for two days. When I took it out and put it on the charger , it charged up and worked fine !  I am writing this message from this phone 3 weeks after so all is good :-)

note : my phone was fully discharged and turned off when I submerged in water to clean it out , this is necessary for success.

Are you this 'quality professional' by any chance.?
