10.11.4 Safari freeze

Just happened to me. Early '15 macbook pro.

Same problem here. Macbook Pro Early 2015. After 10.11.4 update the entire computer freezes.

This seems to be a widespread problem affecting some Mac users but not all. See here:

Best contact Apple with feedback so that a bug fix will come out a bit faster.

In the meantime, try using another browser or reinstall El Capitan from the Recovery disk. Boot up holding down Command and R keys to enter Recovery mode.

I see exactly the same issue. OS on Macbook Pro Early-2015 randomly freezes after 10.11.4 upgrade.

Really annoying to have two Apple upgrade disasters in one week (I have an iPhone 5S where Mail and Safari links stopped working too).

I'm getting this too.

Seems to happen when I'm scrolling down an article in nytimes.com. Mouse still movable. Music streaming in another tab continues. All other functions on the MacBook do not run. Restart required, of course.

Download the Combo Update

and install it. It solved many other issues with 10.11.4:

open ACTIVITY MONITOR and quit SPOTLIGHT ON SAFARI HISTORY

I repeat: do the combo update.

I have the same issue. Total freezes, including loss of haptic click on mid-2015 13" MBP. Nothing works but a restart.

The combo update is not a fix. I updated from 10.11.3 with the combo 10.11.4 update.

Macbook pro retina 2015.

El Capitan clean install and 10.11.4 combo update didn't change anything. Safari is clearly broken and freezes randomly, often on videos webpages.

Do not use it untill it get fixed.

If you are still on 10.11.3, do not upgrade mac os.

I installed the Safari Technology Preview earlier today, and have had one more freeze. And, I mean a hard freeze...even the haptic "click" on the trackpad stops working.

Updating Safari does not solve the problem.

Hi, all things seen normal after I made a combo update followed by PRAM resets.

BUt in my case there were no freezing on Safari, just a smoking cpu activity, It stinks a burned thermal paste or some electronic components.

Same here.

OS X 10.11.4, Safari 9.1 and MacBook Air 11" 2015 (i5 CPU / 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD).

It happened 4 times: first two surfing Facebook, then YouTube and Amazon in the end.

Waiting for a quick fix.
