Q: 10.11.4 Safari freeze

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro Retina 13" Mi-2015 since November and I didn't have any problems since the new El Capitan 10.11.4.

Indeed, Safari freeze randomly when I click on tabs and also freeze the entire computer. I can only hard reboot my Mac ...

Someone also have this problem ?

Thanks.

(Sorry, english is not my mother tongue)

I have made an time machine backup when 10.11.3 was installed on my system. I just restore this backup and was back on 10.11.3. So I really hope you have an backup.

If you don't have an backup of 10.11.3 there is no official way to install an older version as the actual version that is provided from Apple (at the moment of this post 10.11.4). If you download the standalone installer from the AppStore at the moment you only get 10.11.4 and if you use the installer of the recovery partition it also downloads 10.11.4 .

Maybe you have an friend that downloads the 10.11.3 (15D21) standalone installer when it was still provided by Apple ?

But I don't have this standalone installer either.

I was able to find the 10.11.3 standalone installer and managed to install it, but only after changing the date back to when the signature of the installer was still valid. Nonetheless, thanks for your answer! I hope that 10.11.4 is really responsible for the freezes and that Apple will fix this with 10.11.5.

This is completely getting out of hand. I bought a mac to not have to deal with these problems... If I wanted to partition, boot software and mess around with my computer... i would have just switched to Linux. Apple needs to fix this issue so we can get back to actually using our computers without worrying when it crashes next. I appreciate that people are trying to find ways to fixing this (using chrome, downgrading) but these are compensations that are not justified for a computer that cost me $1600 CAD..

This has also been happening to my macbook pro recently! I thought I was the only one experiencing this problem. I bought my macbook pro retina 13 inch last summer and had no problems until recently. This first happened while watching youtube videos my whole screen and mouse would freeze forcing me to force reboot. I thought it was only youtube but this also happened while I was on another site. Reading other post it may be safari problems since the only browser I use is safari. Has anyone been able to get a solution to this problem??

It's been 2 months and apple has not fix this problem. This happens randomly when using my imac. I notice it happens more often when listening to itunes with the visualizer on fullscreen. I read the freeze still happens in the 10.11.15 beta.

I also have this issue. When using my Macbook Pro 13" 2015 regularly, it happens about twice a week... Only adblock is installed, removing it did not help either.

    Safari 9.1

    OS X 10.11.14

Really hoping for a proper fix soon, this is very frustrating.

remove the contents of caches , receipt , extensions from system library & contents of safari , caches , cookies , saved application state from user library .

after that restart from apple logo then empty the trash .

That doesn't work at all. I have had 10.11.4 clean installed at the apple store and the moment I got home after the "set up my mac" pages I got a freeze in safari. Very frustrating. I suspect that since most of people use chrome they don't experience this freezing.

Chrome is definitely more popular on Windows as a browser but no ideas on OSX. I can't find any stats about it online.

Please add me to the flow chart of problem macs - I'm on a brand new MBP 15 retina...my second one in 2 days, I started having this issue with my previous brand new MBP 2 days ago when the fan revved up high (when I was doing nothing, basically), froze the computer, and from there never restarted again because of the black screen of death cycle.  I took it to the *genius* after a day of trying every internet solution possible, he was able to grab my junk from the desktop and then had to reset the computer as brand new.  I then returned it for a new unit...unstable and all that jazz.

Today, sitting here with my fresh out of plastic laptop, I have done nothing but download software to install (Evernote, Dropbox, Google Drive, Firefox, and Fetch)...Looked at a site or two online as I hate setting up new computers and was procrastinating.  What do you know...computer freezes, fan is on...beach ball is out and ready to party.  I think this CANNOT be happening to me again, so I try to wait out the beach ball and fan party, about 10 minutes before restarting.  This time, I did what the dude at Apple did and went to recovery mode and reset the computer to factory. And do you know it's done it AGAIN. Second time in about 2 hours. I'm not a mac newbie. I'm replacing a 2009 MBP and at this rate, I'm pulling my slow clunker out of the drawer, because it's never misbehaved like this.

What the **** is wrong with these machines??!!  This is ridiculous, I'm never going to get work done at this rate.  When the guy reset mine yesterday, he thought it was a permissions issue... But I'm not sure.  He didn't seem interested in diagnosing WHY it was happening, just sweeping it off and getting me out of there. Had I known I'd be setting up another appointment in a day, I would have asked more questions!

I have also sent feedback to Apple but no answer...just getting unreal..It has been a month now having this problem I think..DISGUSTING

I have a call booked in with APPLE SUPPORT. They are phoning me back in 45 minutes. If anyone has anything they wish me to mention other than their DREADFUL LACK OF SUPPORT ... let me know. Will report back and will escalate the issue if there isn't an admission of the problem at least being dealt with.
