loading spreadsheets in numbers blocks

Loading a spreadsheet in numbers does not work.

The Apple -icon appears and it stays loading but nothing happens.(screen is blocked but spreadsheet is not loaded.

I already have removed caches and cookies from the library.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
