Q: stuck with an icloud account that doesn’t work
hi,
some time ago i changed the email address associated with my apple ID from ‘info@myname.com’ to ‘myname@gmail.com’, which means that my apple ID changed too. the icloud account on my old iphone was still referred to by the old ID, but it somehow worked.
i set up my new iphone with an itunes backup of my old phone which transferred my icloud account to my new phone and now on the new phone the icloud account doesn’t work.
and here’s the problem: i can’t delete the account either because it asks for the password associated with the old apple ID to do so. and the old apple ID doesn’t exist anymore so. so now im stuck with a brandnew iphone with an icloud account that doesn’t work and that can’t be deleted either.
how can i solve this?

Probably the best thing to do here is phone AppleCare support and have them walk you through unlocking your Apple ID, Furthermore, if you would like to do that yourself If your Apple ID is locked - Apple Support. If your phone tells you there is an Activation Lock If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support If this article isnt help, then the problem lies with your carrier. Apple doesnt un-lock iDevices contrary to popular belief, that leave that responsibility to the carrier. Obviously, in extreme circumstances that would be a mis-statement... but for purposes on maintaining the integrity of this thread, move through the information ive provided and lets see if we get you taken care of...
