Need photos but iPhone 6 is in recovery mode

I bought an iPhone 6 a year and a half ago and was never able to sync it to iTunes because my computer OS was out dated and was not compatible with the version of iTunes I was running. I ran the IOS 9.3 update and my phone went into recovery mode and tells me that i need to restore it. The problem is I have many photo's and videos that are precious to us such as baby announcements, when baby was born, wedding pictures etc... I have looked at software like FoneLab but it doesn't support getting photos or video from iPhone 6. I'm hoping that there is someone on here that has had this happened and successfully recovered their photos and video from their phone while it was in recovery mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you had iCloud Photo Library turned on you can log in to https://www.icloud.com/ and look to see if they are in the Photos app there.

If they are not, another possibility is that the phone was set to back up to iCloud. If so it would automatically backup while charging if connected to wi-fi. The contents of the backup won't be visible at icloud.com but can be used to restore to an existing or replacement iPhone: iCloud: Restore or set up your iOS device from iCloud

As an active ASC member I have read many cases just like yours, sad indeed. I hope you are able to retrieve your photos somehow.

I know that this will not help your current situation but in the future I suggest importing your photos to a computer on a regular basis and backing up the HD on the computer as well. Upgrades generally go well as you said but when they don't, data on the phone is usually lost, sad to say.

Yes, i've checked iCloud and i'm missing videos and photo's that are still on the phone's internal hard drive. I don't understand why you can't update or restore the IOS without effecting the contents of the hard drive. It would be smart to allow two different types of restore options. One that save all the files and the other that wipes it clean. I've see a handful of software applications claiming to be able to do this but when you look closer at them they only recover photos and videos on older devices, not the iPhone 6. So if anyone has any ideas how to access the files without restoring it, is what i'm mostly interested in.

Is there any way to confirm the idea that photos and video that don't appear on iCloud.com are actually there so that if I fully restore the phone to factory like it's telling me, when i connect it back to iCloud that it would push the non-showing files to my phone?

You can confirm the existence, the size, and the date of an iCloud backup but there isn't a way to see the contents without doing a restore to an iOS device.

I know restoring wipes the drive, but i've upgrading shouldn't as i've upgraded the IOS many times and haven't lost photos and videos even when it hasn't been sync'ed. I'm not really interested in Jailbreaking. I did that with the fist gen iPhone and I only did it so i could use it on T-Mobile at the time. The third party software says it can restore all kinds of data but when you read it closer is says it only fully supports iPhone 4. This *****. I have so many important memories that i don't want to lose.
