wireless card not working

Hey!

I was using my macbook pro mid 2009 and decided to upgrade to el capitan, but the wireless card stoped working..

I tried all the resets and already tried to downgrade to others OS and still not working.

Anyone got any ideas?

Btw, bluetooth works just fine and during the OS install process, it show the wifi icon and the message that there's no hardware installed.

Obs: o bluetooth funciona normalmente e durante o processo de instalação do OS, aparece o ícone da wifi e a mensagem de que não há hardware instalado.

Hi there jNiederauer,

It sounds like something about your Wi-Fi is not working since you updated your software. It's a bit difficult to be sure of what is happening but it sounds like you have no Wi-Fi connection available, or the card is not showing in your system information. I would start by resetting your PRAM and your SMC:

How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac

then

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac

If that doesn't seem to get the issue resolved boot to safe mode, and see if the Wi-Fi shows up:

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up

Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.

  1. Start or restart your Mac.
  2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
  3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Then restart normally to leave safe mode with a normal restart and see if the Wi-Fi shows up. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities, please let us know how it goes!
