My messages and e-mails were not transferred from my old iPhone

my messages and e-mail was not transferred from my old iPhone when I purchased my new 6s at the AT&T store. I traded in my old phone but have an iPad with the messages and e-mail on it. Can I transfer from the iPad to my new phone?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3

Howdy Blscats,

This can, indeed, be done by backing up the iPad, then restoring your iPhone from the iPad's backup. The article linked below provides instructions for doing so.
