Help with Synology NAS and Seagate Personal Cloud

Hello All,

Let me start out by saying I am a noob!!!

My old network got fried last week! (Ubiquiti PPOE 5 port Cisco 26 port PPOE switch and 3 Ubiquiti Access Points I still don't know how, no storms here; but decided I would give an Apple network a try!

My modem is in my basement. and my house is wired Cat5E cable.I have always has trouble get good wireless signal which is why I went with the Access Points. and powerful routers. Had a person install for me and now we don't talk. This showed me have to understand your own network!!!

I have now setup a new network with 3 Airport Extremes AC wireless and now 16 port Netgear Pro SAFE with Plug and Play connectivity. The first AE is in the basement as my router. The 2nd Airport extreme is upstairs in my living room and the 3rd airport extreme is in my bedroom. I have goo coverage now but lets get to the problem I am encountering.

All 3 Airports are wireless AC and the time capsule is wireless N. In all the ethernet ports in back I have these items plugged in:2 ps4s, 2ps3s an apple tv (4th gen newest) apple tv 3rd gen.,xbox 360, In the switch Yamaha receiver, Samsung smart Tv, Sony smart Tv. Another Sony smart TV. 1 western digital my cloud, and 1 western digital my book

For DevicesI have the following

2 iPad 3rd Generation,

2 iPad Air 2s

2 iPad minis 1st generation LTE

3 iPhone 6s

Synology NAS DS214play 3 TB (2bay raid 1 config)

just bought a seagate personal cloud 4 TB.

The reason I bought the Seagate was to move all movies as I have over 2 TB and wanted to save the synology disk space.

My router, provided by cable company, (MediaCOM) who also installed TIVO (The router is called an XTREAM) had to come out and install a MOCA device since baselining my router screwed up my TIVO service. When they came out today they were here from 4pm to 10:35 tonight. They were able to get the TIVO up but not the DVR service. They will have to come back another day tomorrow is Easter!!.

The problem I am facing is that I can no longer see my Synology NAS or my Seagate Personal Cloud

All I want is a strong wired and wireless network with access to all of my hard drives, NAS, Seagate and Western Digitals.

I don't know what is wrong or what to do but any direction you can provide me with detailed instructions as I am a noob would help.

Thank you All

Airport Extreme -OTHER, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Base Station and Nas not playing ni

Sounds like it was done right though and you can employ a computer tech to come in and do the setup.. It is hard to learn enough networking to get around severe problems in a day or two. It causes you frustration and hard for us to give you enough info.

My router, provided by cable company, (MediaCOM) who also installed TIVO (The router is called an XTREAM) had to come out and install a MOCA device since baselining my router screwed up my TIVO service.

I have no idea what baselining means..

The techs were extremely dedicated..

If the cable company has supplied you a router .. then this is wrong.

The first AE is in the basement as my router.

Only one router should live in the network.. If the XTREAM is the router then the AE plugged into it should be in bridge or static IP mode like this.

Re: airport time capsule keeps disconnecting

All the AE should be in bridge mode.. if not you will have issues. Do you have it setup as roaming network so all the AE use the same wireless name and same password??

The problem I am facing is that I can no longer see my Synology NAS or my Seagate Personal Cloud

They must be plugged into one of the AE .. or the switch which also must be plugged into the AE.. nothing can be plugged into the XTREAM except the first AE.. How the TIVO etc will work I don't know.. as I am not sure what you are streaming to where.

Everything must be on the same IP address range.. and must be able to be pinged..

You need to learn to use the network utility in your mac.. ping each AE and find its IP address via the Airport Utility.
