Battery not charging mid 2009 MacBook Pro

Hello I'm from India. Recently my friends mid 2009 MacBook pro having problem with charging whenever i plugged charger its not charging But with some twisting magsafe L connector little bit sometimes its working . Also Magsafe connector getting burning hot during charging. I tried with other chargers same thing happening . As am having 2009 mac AASP'S are declining to service my mac. They are saying that apple stopped servicing macs before mid 2010 . Could someone please help me out what could be the problem. ?? Does apple stores in US also stopped serving macs before 2010 ??
