Are you asking about your email messages? You can select those messages and move or copy them to a mailbox on your Mac.

Are you asking how to notify your contacts that you have a new email address?

    Hi Duane,

I have tried dragging a mailbox into another one with the new e-mail address but it was not accepted.

I assume that to notify my existing contacts of a new e-mail address will mean contacting each one individually either by e-mail ,or if possible, by changing my personal information on the site.

Sorry but what I recommended is putting them in a mailbox "On My Mac". Follow these steps to create such a mailbox:

    1. In Mail choose Mailbox > New Mailbox
    2. In the sheet that appears, choose the location for the Mailbox.
    3. Choose On My Mac to create a Mailbox that resides on only your Mac.
    4. Name the Mailbox and click OK.

This Mailbox can be used to store messages from any mail service.

Thanks for that Duane, I hadn't realised that mailboxes "On My Mac" were independent of any particular mail service.
