    Welcome to Apple Support Communities

I'm sure you can run Windows 7 on that Mac with no troubles, but Apple does not have any driver available for Windows 7, so Boot Camp does not support Windows 7 on your Mac. You need a virtual machine in order to run Windows 7.

However, you can run Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 with Boot Camp on that computer -> System requirements to install Windows on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support

I am trying to install Window 7 64 Pro on El Capitan and getting this error...

I still have not found an work around after 4 hours of looking.  Is suspect you will need to stay away from Windows 7.

I can add a bit more information to this.  Even though Windows 7 will not work with El Capitan it will work on El Capitan through Parallels 11, but my install was not easy.  In short, after a second clean install, the first failed, I still had to spend an hour with a tech support tech from Parallels making sure all the .dll files were installed and running several fix-it tools to make the Windows Update app to work.  Otherwise the Update app just stalled looking for updates or trying to download them.  I don't know if this is related to El Capitan and Boot camp issues or totally separate.  My guess is they are separate.  Once the work was done I was able to download all the updates and Windows 7 is fully functional.  If I was running anything but an accounting app I would go with Windows 10.  If you have any experiences with this please post the details on this page.  Good Luck!
