How do I find and delete movie files taking up so much space on HD?

I keep getting the "start-up disk is almost full" message. When I look at the Storage graph under About this Mac, I find a huge amount of space is taken up with "Movies." What movies? Where are these files? How can I delete them to clear out this storage space.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

That display is often corrupt. Try a Spotlight reindex which MAY correct it:

If not download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. Transfer to an external HDD or delete files you no longer want on your MBP.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for new data.
