If the downloaded TV show episodes from iTunes Store are in HD, you'll need the SD versions for the iPod. If you paid for the HD versions, you should be able to download the SD versions at no cost. Go to the iTunes Store Purchased screen

Download your past purchases - Apple Support

Set it to show TV Shows and All. At the bottom right corner of the screen, there is a checkbox for Download HD When Available. If currently checked, uncheck it. If there's a cloud with down-arrow symbol on that TV show season, click it. That should download the SD versions, so that you have both HD and SD versions for each episode, and you can sync them to the iPod.

If that's not the problem, please post back with any additional details.

Hi there. I have a similar problem.

ipod classic only supports low format standard definition, so you have to set the preference to the lower quality SD download.

I've done this for a TV series with 18 episodes. However, for some reason only 17 will transfer to my ipod. 1 episode simply will not transfer. It downloads in the correct format. The info says that it's correct and it plays on my laptop just fine. However, even though it's in the right format, it simply wont transfer to my ipod yet 17 episodes from the same TV series and from the same season will all transfer and work just fine on my ipod.

Does anybody know what has happened, or how I might fix this one faulty or problematic episode so I can take it with me on my ipd classic?

Many Thanks.

Hi there. 🙂

Thanks for your reply.

I get an error notification when trying to transfer that says, this video cannot be transferred because it is not compatible with the ipod. It says that it cannot be played on this ipod, so cannot be transferred. It's the same error notification you might get if you try to upload an HD format video to an old ipod, because old ipods are not capable of playing HD format videos.

So it would appear that it's not the right format from the notification, but I've done everything to ensure that it is the right format. The file information section states it's in the correct format, so this just seems to be a peculiar fault.

I've contacted iTunes for further help, but following plenty of troubleshooting it still won't work, so I've pretty much given up on it now. I suppose if you had video format conversion software of some sort, perhaps you might be able to try to convert the file to make it compatible with the device, but I've no idea where to start with that, nor the time to figure that all out.

If anybody thinks they have a simple resolution I'd still be happy to try it, but I think I've just given up on this problem now. I'll probably manage to get by without it! 😉

Anyway, thanks for your reply!

Greatly appreciated! 😀
