As you did not receive the verification (or reset) email for your Apple ID, follow the instructions in the following support article:

I gotten Verification Email for my apple account no problem,so I know I am setup on that end. Here is what happened, we were out yesterday and my son was helping setup my new I phone (never own an apple product before). So we set up I cloud and a banner came through and said set up now or wait to later. I elected for later since we were getting ready to go home. Nothing came up next day to setup and never saw an email. Does that make a difference to what you told in your first answer.

- Go to: Settings > iCloud > sign in using your Apple ID email address and password.

Check that you have turned on Passcode and (if you wish to use it) set up Touch ID:
