Q: wireless connection to my epson printer has failed again

...I had this problem several weeks ago and did all of the suggestions I could find.

  1. I tried the reset print system command
  2. deleted the printer folder in the library
  3. downloaded new printer software from epson
  4. hooked the printer up USB and reinstalled  (the handbook said there was an option during the hardwired installation to go wireless,  didn't ever see that) although I noticed when plugging the printer in via USB the bonjour printer showed up for a few seconds but not long enough to select it.
  5. epson no longer supports the printer!!!!!!
  6. shut every thing down   router, printer, computer  still didn't work after start up.
  7. tried to find some way of resetting the bonjour function on the macs but can't seem to find that.
  8. finally after resetting all the ip addresses on the router it worked for about 1 week.   now it doesn't again.
  9. Tried setting the IP address on the printer manually,  no help ,put it back to auto.

I don't think the problem is the printer cause it works on my iPhone, and from what I have read this has been a problem with mac software since 2008 at least.  I can't remember the exact point that it started working again, it was late and I started to do a few face plants into the keyboard.  I hope that isn't the answer.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Just moments after posting this question,  I tried logging into my router and doing a system reset.  which I suppose is different than doing a reboot. I was then able to login directly to my printer via the ip address, update the printer firmware, it remains to be seen if the printer is functional now.

Just did a few tests .  seems  to be working great.. hmmmmm
