Q: Nano 3rd Gen wont turn on or sync with Windows 10

Hi

I was given a brand new iPod Nano 3rd Gen for my birthday last week. It has never been used before and i took it out of the box. I have followed the instructions and installed iTunes and plugged in the Nano. I get a black screen and the Apple logo on screen and nothing else.

Its not recognized on my laptop running windows 10 or even windows 8. I have followed all the forums advice. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have tried pressing an holding a combination of buttons to power on.

I am having no luck so thought i would ask the experts. Any advice

thanks

iPod nano, 3rd Gen

Even if it has not been used, a 3rd gen iPod is not "brand new."  Are you saying the iPod shows the Apple logo and that Apple logo stays on the iPod's screen; it does not get to the iPod's menu screen?  The iPod's battery may be completely dead, so you may want to leave it connected to power for a while, to see if the screen changes.

If the iPod's screen does not go passed the Apple logo, it will not be recognized by the computer or iTunes.

    Hi Kenichi,

Thanks for the advice, I was implying it has not been used before. I have had the device charging for 2 days through my laptop. I have disconnected and tried to power up systematically through the 48 hour period.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

So, are you saying the iPod shows the Apple logo and that Apple logo stays on the iPod's screen; it does not get to the iPod's menu screen?

Try doing a Reset (restart) on the iPod
