iphone bluetooth to play music and use apple watch at same time?

So I am thinking about buying an apple watch but I want to make sure it will do something first. I ride my bike outside. Can I use my iPhone to play music on my beatspill (via bluetooth) AND ALSO, at the same time, have my apple watch connected to my iPhone and run the mapmyride app? It's a deal breaker otherwise.
