Photos Transfer from Iphone to Computer with Gray Boxes

When I connect my iPhone to my Windows 7 computer and copy photos to it, many of them copy with gray boxes obscuring half or more of the photo. However, the photos display well on my iPhone and when I email them to myself first, then download them to my computer, they are fine. How can I transfer them directly to the computer without this problem?

Incidentally, I went to getsupport.apple.com, and was told to register my iphone before getting help. However, it won't accept the serial number. I type it in, press ENTER and the number just disappears and I'm prompted to re-enter it.

Thanks. A couple more questions, tho -recalled? Is that why the serial # wouldn't work? How would I know if it was recalled otherwise? (besides calling my local Apple store).

Why do I have to download OneDrive or GoogleDrive to successfully transfer my photos? I don't have this issue on my work computer. Is there a setting or something that is causing this?

Ok - if there is no issue with your work computer - presuming you are using a PC - uninstall iTunes - reboot the computer - reinstall it again and then try

Also it would be preferable to take the phone into Apple to get the serial number issue checked out
