How to log out of iCloud on my Macbook Air?

I recently changed my apple ID and password because I lost access to the old email account that I was using with apple. Everything changed over pretty smoothly, however I can not log out of iCloud on my Macbook. I go to system preferences, and iCloud, and it still shows my old account, and continually asks for the password, which no longer exists. I try to click sign out, but all it does is take me to a page that says to create a separate password for my computer, and verify with my current password, which is of course not working because my old apple ID is disabled. I have tried everything, and I am losing hope completely. I have tried the new password, old password, and everything I can think of. Someone please help me!!! -Sarah

So, when you go to System Preferences > iCloud with the old Apple ID not verified, you used to be able to sign out of iCloud even though you had not yet verified the iCloud account (old) by email. Then you change your Apple ID back to the new Apple ID. And this part did not work? Did you start a new Apple ID or just changed the email address?
