Q: I need to change my apple I.D due to being unable to log-in into my old e-mail address. If I get a new apple ID, can I transfer all of my purchases? I'm afraid if I ever get locked out, I won't be able to recover my account since I cannot use email.

If you start a new Apple ID, you will lose the purchases under the old Apple ID.  I know of no way around though people have be asking for a long time.

Have you followed the steps here?  Change your Apple ID - Apple Support to change just you email address?

Do you know your password to your Apple id? If yes, then you will need to proceed with the following:

1- Sign out of all your devices from iCloud and every Apple service (app store, iTunes...)

2- Visit appleid.apple.com and sign in to your account.

3- Press edit in the "Account Section", and change your e-mail under your Apple ID.

4- Enter the e-mail you want to use as an Apple ID and then you will receive a verification to that e-mail account. Check your spam or junk folder in case you do not find the verification e-mail in your inbox.

5- Enter your verification code in the fields provided and from there you can use your new Apple Id.

6-  Sign back into your devices

This way you will not lose any purchases. Kindly note, that you cannot proceed with the above if your e-mail ends with iCloud.com, me.com or mac.com
