Q: Show View Option Errors

having mostly video files on my Mac, I depend very much on the Item info.

For long time it gave me very accurate information.

Not so lately!

Like: there are videos in a folder, it shows "No Items" That happens now on many folders. (Before I just deleted a folder which shows "No Items"

Or 1 Folder says 13 Items, but there are only 12 in the Folder.

Something which really irritates me, and I need to compare all folders (sometimes there are 100 or more items in a Folder)

Some folder show nothing at all below the Folder Title even "Show View option>Show Item Info" is enabled.

To disable>enable did not do the trick.

Also, when I have "Show Item Info" enabled and I have a folder with video clips open, it always shows me the length of the video in seconds-something I really need very much. Now very often below the clip name its just blank.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 14 GB RAM, 4 TB HDD, 3 Drobos

    Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.

Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
