Q: iOS 9.3 completely broke all web browsing

Looks like web browsing is completely broken on my iPhone 5s and iPad Mini Retina after moving to 9.3

Like others have reported, Safari and following links from eMails is not working any more.

Even worse, the issues spreads to Chrome and Safari as well, so it's something deeply in the system.

Disabling javascript did not fix it for me.

Especially on my iPad this is rendering 80% of the device usage as unusable.

It looks like Apple is missing out on some very very basic testing.

Waiting for a class action suite in the US for nearly deliberately breaking users devices.

For an all apple household and business I'm waiting now for the sarcastic comments of Windows users.

Apple is aware of the issue. Can you please deliver a fix for this ASAP?

Any other work arounds known how to fix it?

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3

This is user to user forum. You ere not addressing to Apple here. I've  seen several posts regarding the same issue. However this number is not critical. Try basic troubleshooting steps.

Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on this device.

    • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
    • Press and hold on the Home button
    • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

If this does not help, restore your device to factory settings. Note that this will erase the data from your device.

Take a look this Apple Support article: Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.

    Thanks for the reply.

The basic restart options that every user already knows do not work.

Resetting my phone to factory default and restoring requires significant time investment from my side.

Looking at google the number of affected people is growing to a significant number already.

It's very cynical to deliver a faulty iOS update, and then reply with suggestions that there are not enough affected people for Apple to take action.

How do other users having the same issue feel about this?

Are you all ok to try the factory reset (which is reported to NOT have fixed the issue for quite some!) to trial and error on the symptom, instead of apple addressing this issue ASAP?

    Hi,

I actually tried to disable javascript. (See my original post). This is among the first things I usually try. Did not do it on my phone.

If you search this topic on google, this is becoming a thunderstorm. Many people are having the same issue, and the standard advice (reboot, reset, reinstall) did not fix it either.

On a general note: While I'm usually restarting my device whenever it starts to act in a strange way (memory leaks, etc) I am actually not a big fan of reset and reinstall unless the root cause has been identified.

My iPad and my iPhone both where working without issues initially. Then after a few restarts my Safari started to freeze. Well, reset did it's wonder the first few times, unless it became a permanent issue.

Now unless the root cause has been fixed by apple, chances are very high that factory reset and reinstall will do it's magic for a day or two, and the the issue comes back.

I tried the factory reset and restore, even reinstall with my iDevices (many of them) many times in the past on demand of apple support.

It never fixed the root cause, only bought some time for apple, and annoyed the **** out of me.

Anyone out there having the same issue on multiple devices, who found a way how to fix this, or got a response from apple?

    Hello lxmeta,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your question, I understand that hyperlinks are not behaving as expected after updating to iOS 9.3. We know how frustrating situations like this can be and we want to make sure your devices are working as expected.

iOS 9.3.1 was recently released. Performing this update should resolve this situation.

    Cheers!
