Problems w/Password Accessing iCloud

Hi,

So I changed my iCloud password and now I'm being told there's a problem with my iCloud account xxxxx@gmail.com. The password works online and on my login screen.

When I enter my password in the dialog box the wheels spins and either tells me there was an 'unknown error' or just continues to spin with the cancel button greyed out.

I have looked this problem up but not found any help elsewhere - one thread advised to delete some files from within the iCloud folder on the HD, however I don't have an iCloud folder.

Any help really appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Hello tmlnhm,
I understand that you are having issues accessing your iCloud account on your Mac after changing your password. Let's see if we can get this sorted out.
The first thing I would suggest to do is signing out of your iCloud instead of updating the password. Once you have signed out, you will be able to sign back in. Pay attention to any Two-factor authentication you might have to do or even create an app specific password to get access to your information.
Take a look at the articles below as it will go into troubleshooting your Apple ID on your Mac as well as more information on Two-factor Authentication and app-specific passwords.
