Q: Green Screen feature changes original video colors

Hello.
I Just started using the green screen feature in iMovie and it works great except for one thing.
It changes some of the colors in my original video and I can't seem to fix it.
So the top image is the original video with the green screen, and the 2nd image when the greenscreen feature and the background are applied.

As soon as it applied, it changes the subject's dark blue skirt to purple and also adds a purple tint to her silver cuffs, sword and shield.
I tried it with different background and it still changes the color. Also tried it in iMovie and same issue.
If the Blue skirt was effecting the greenscreen feature, it would just turn see through, isn't it?
Any ideas on how to fix it? Thank you in advance! *NOTE: Screenshot taken in iMovie but I have tried both and same issue*

TThe problem is the magenta used to counteract the green in spill suppression. I don't know how to control this in iMovie if it's even possible. You should ask the question on the iMovie forum.

Yes, I posted in the iMovie forum too.
I posted in here as well since I also tried it in Final Cut and it had the same issue. Any idea how to fix or control this in Final Cut?

TTry reducing the amount of spill suppression in the keyer effect.

WOW! You're a genius! Thank You!
This is the closest I could get back to the blue-side until the edges of the hair started turning green.

But this is so much better than what was before! Thanks so much!

IT is a problematic color. The other thing you can do is combine the keyed image with the background into a compound clip. Apply a Color Correction effect to the compound clip and use a color mask to adjust the color of the skirt.

For difficult situations like this, there is another possible solution.

Basically, it consists of using the keyer as a mask.

    1) Use the keyer on the clip. Don't worry about any color shifts. Disable any background. Export the resulting movie with alpha channel (you need to use ProRes 4444 for this). The purpose of this step is to create a movie where the keyed out parts become fully transparent. Call this the mask video.

    2) Import back the mask video, place it above the original video, and change its blend mode to Stencil Alpha.

    3) Select both the original clip and the mask clip and make a compound.

So I just apply the Keyer on the Original Video without any background and export it with ProRes 4444 like this?
The video exports out with a black background. Am I doing it right so far?

and when I bring in that mask video back and place it on top of the original video, does the original video still needs the keyer applied? Or its just the raw green screen version and I just place the Mask on it?

and the blend mode needs to be changed on the original video or the new masking video?
Sorry for many questions, I'm very new at this Thank you.

Yes. The background will *appear* to be black, but it is actually transparent. To make sure it is working correctly, I suggest you go to Preferences->Playback and change the "Player background" from "black" to "checkerboard". This will let you see clearly which parts of the frame are transparent.

and when I bring in that mask video back and place it on top of the original video, does the original video still needs the keyer applied? Or its just the raw green screen version and I just place the Mask on it?

No, when you bring back the mask video, you should NOT apply the keyer to the original; just use the raw green screen video and place the mask on it.

The blend mode is to be changed on the mask video only.

And, don't forget, in order for the background to be visible, you need to then select the green screen AND the mask, and make them into a compound clip.
