Q: Activation of icloud locked iphone

Hi,

I have an Iphone 5 which is icloud locked, I bought it from a local store/shop here in Uganda(East Africa) and the phone is locked to an email address i nor the ones who sold me the phone do not know i have been with it for one year now when its Icloud locked and all i do is look at it and can do nothing about it.

I took it to elite computers your support here in Uganda and they wanted a receipt from an authorized dealer here in Uganda and since the local shop (Whose receipt i have)   is not an authorized dealer they said they cant help. Does it mean the phone is scrap and i can never regain use it again or there is a way i can get help?

Thank you.

iPhone 5

I'm afraid, as you say, the phone is scrap.  Activation Lock is an ant-theft mechanism.  If it could be defeated, it would not be much of a deterrent.  For more info, you can see:

I never said you (or anybody else) was a thief.  I simply said activation lock is an anti-theft feature.

Is the local store/shop you bought it from an AUTHORIZED Apple reseller?  How did the email address get in the phone if you nor the ones who sold you the phone put it in there?  Obviously, somebody did.

If you are indeed the ORIGINAL owner, take the phone with your ORIGINAL receipt to an Apple store (or contact Apple Support) and they MAY be able to help you.  As far as I know, that is your only other alternative.
