Mar 29, 2016 12:31 AM in response to josdebrieby K Shaffer,An external optical drive is usually available in Blu-ray that would be compatible
with the Mac, however depending on where you are located in the world their
prices may vary considerably due to shipping, tax, duty, & other added cost.
• Internal and External Blu-ray Optical drives from OWC:

There are other reputable quality product examples throughout the site.
I've never bought anything from them, but do have a few cast offs given
to me that needed repair. Appears their quality is better than ones I have.
The LG DVD/CD equivalent to a superdrive (tray load external) has fairly good
ratings; some model numbers may be better than others. They're not costly.
So if the Blu-ray version are the same quality at fair price, the item may be worth
a gamble. Check the detail in retail return warranty if they go bad too fast.
Good luck & happy computing!

Mar 29, 2016 5:12 AM in response to K Shafferby josdebrie,Thanks. I saw on the site that OWC has Mac-compatible burners from LG. I can order from OWC, but the shipment will be costly. So I called LG here in the Netherlands and they will advice me. Problem solved (I hope).

Mar 29, 2016 7:59 PM in response to josdebrieby EcoGreg,I have been using a ASUS BU 1201S-U USB3 burner that I like fine. In US Amazon less than $100.00USD.
For burning I simply create a BD image file out of FCPX share destination and export to desktop. You can then right click on it with a BD drive connected and burn a disk. You can also use Toast Titanium with the add on Blu-ray disk support.
These methods only make pretty simple BD so nothing fancy, but they play on all the players I have tried them on.
If you want to view commercial BD disk, then VLC has some Blu-ray disc library files you can add for a free player. Works most of the time.
Hope this helps, Greg

Many of the products available from OWC can be bought on their European site, macupgrade.eu
